German National (soccer) Team

Activated in 1985 by a few soccer fans, the GNT has become a well-established element at JFC Brunssum.
Obviously our main focus is on the "most beautiful pastime in the world" – soccer.
However, we do not care much about the playing abilities of our members.
Regular soccer practice and participation in national and international tournaments integrate the individuals' abilities, form the team and help develop the formidable team spirit among the GNT. Having fun is our main objective!
The GNT includes both "active" and "passive" members – mostly soldiers from all ranks and alumni.
Whether they prefer to actively play soccer or to passively attend social events only – that's our members' choice.

Besides participating in tournaments throughout the German MOD region or in private competitions organized by sports clubs or other groups, our own annual tournament in August represents the absolute highlight!
Our military tournament, according to the Bundeswehr Sports Magazine the "largest military small-pitch soccer tournament worldwide", is a magnet for more than 80 men's and women's teams from all over Europe.
Within two days the teams compete for four "Cups".
Besides soccer the tournament also features a charity project and a large entertainment program including a disco tent night.

Due to its relatively large number of "passive" members the GNT has also become a recreational activities group planning and conducting events or trips on a regular basis.

About four times a year, for example, we try to host a social get-together for all our members.
Other examples from the past are the Father-Child-Day in the "Aquana" water park, a family trip to the "de Efteling" theme park, karting in Maasmechelen, and quite a few other events.
