Thursday, 12 January a flag handover ceremony of the NATO Response Force (NRF) Land Component was held in Thessaloniki, Greece. Lieutenant General Georgios Basiakoulis, Commander NATO Deployable Corps Greece (NDC-GR) took the responsibilities for the Land Component of the NRF 2012 from Lieutenant General Serdar Savas Ismail, Commander NATO Rapid Deployable Corps of Turkey (NRDC – TU).
Guests of honour were the Greek Minister of National Defence, Mr. Dimitrios Avramopoulos and the Chief of National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), General Mikhail Kostarakos. General Army Inspector and Commander of Hellenic 1st Army, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Ginis, local political leaders, diplomatic and military authorities as well as NATO military representatives, also attended. Officers from the Allied Nations were honoured for their exceptional services with NDC-GR at the ceremony.
JFC Brunssum, the Netherlands is one of three NATO operational level commands in NATO Allied Command Operations (ACO). This year JFC Brunssum is in charge of NRF 2012.
