On this day throughout Denmark, and across the globe where the Danes are represented politically and/or militarily, the Danish government and people remember their soldiers, sailors and airmen who have paid the ultimate price so that those at home can enjoy peace and security.

 

On completion of short remarks designed to explain the underlying purpose of the day Colonel Christiansen invited guests to sample an array of Danish ‘open’ sandwiches followed by a traditional Danish cake that had been prepared by chefs flown in from Denmark. The event was a great success and very much enjoyed by all present.
