Brunssum, the Netherlands – On Thursday 13 December, General Riccardo Marchiò (Commander JFC Brunssum), initiated the launch of the annual Christmas Market with a symbolic lighting of the Christmas tree at the International Conference Centre.

 

In his remarks officially opening the Market, General Marchiò thanked his people for all their efforts throughout 2018 and for the unwavering support of partners and families.  For the upcoming holidays he wished all would enjoy peace, a good rest and a Happy New Year.

 

The popularity of the Christmas Market has not reduced over the years.  The event provides soldiers and civilian employees, together with their families and friends, an opportunity to celebrate our diversity and observe the many different traditions surrounding the Christmas holiday.  A huge amount of national dishes and beverages were available for all to sample in a joyful atmosphere with the sounds of live music in the background.
