Brunssum, Netherlands - On the 07  December 2016 the inaugural  DCOS Support Directorate Santa Fun Run took place within the grounds of JFC Brunssum.  Raising money for a good cause and, of course, the promise of a free Santa Hat, was enough to convince 55 keen and enthusiastic runners to complete a distance of approximately 4.5 KM.

 

The event was organised by the DCOS Spt Sports, Social & Charity Committee, but was the brainchild of Corporal Berney who was also the driving force. The event was designed to raise funds for a Bench that will be situated in a memorial garden.  This will be a place for individuals to sit, reflect and remember our fallen friends and colleagues.‎

 

All participants completed the course in under 30 minutes despite some challenging inclines. An overall total of 135.10 Euros was raised for this worthwhile and deserving cause, with the bench planned to be unveiled in March 2017.  

 

A special thanks needs to be given to our First Responder, Sergeant McConnell, and her team of marshals and volunteers, without whom the event could not have taken place. Until next year‎...
