JFCBS indoor soccer event

Brunssum, the Netherlands – Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) hosted an indoor soccer tournament with 13 teams from JFCBS and other NATO agencies. The event was organised by the JFCBS Gym staff.

In the group phase the JFCBS team from the Joint Operation Center (JOC), the UK Old Boys, the team from the Air Base Eindhoven and a Norwegian/Spanish mixed team from Geilenkirchen Airbase made clear their ambitions to win the cup and progressed to the semi finals in confident style.

In the semi-finals the JOC team defeated the Eindhoven team with a comfortable 5:0 victory, but the second match was a hard fought affair with the Norwegian/Spanish combination taking a narrow victory over the UK Old Boys.

In the final match the JOC team demonstrated their superior talent and won with a phenomenal 4:1 victory against the team from Norway and Spain.

With all matches having been played and the winners identified, Colonel Edwin Altena, JFCBS Commander Base Support Group, thanked the organizers and the referees for all their hard work. The Colonel handed over medals to all the finalists and handed the prized trophy to the winning team from the JFCBS JOC.

Thanks to the success of the event, Commander Base Support Group announced that the JFCBS Indoor Soccer tournament will be taking place again next year.

Before that date, the annual JFCBS International Small Pitch Soccer Tournament will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of August 2019 at the NATO JFCBS sports complex. In the course of this event, revenues from the food and drinks sold during the indoor tournament will be donated to charity.
