Limburg Veterans Day

Brunssum, Netherlands - Saturday June 17, the Limburg Veterans Day was hosted by the town of Roermond.  The province of Limburg is home to approximately 5500 veterans and this was a special event to honour them.  The day deservedly was focused on these brave men and women out of respect for the risks they took so that we can enjoy peace today.

The Governor of Limburg, Mr Theo Bovens, as well as the Mayor of Roermond , Mrs Donders de Leest, addressed the veterans.  Lieutenant General Hans van Griensven, the previous Deputy Chief of Staff (Plans) at JFC Brunssum, who is now the Inspector General of the Dutch Armed Forces, laid a wreath at the monument at the National Remembrance Park, as did Brigadier General Bouman, in his role as the Senior Dutch Officer at JFC Brunssum.

Rear Admiral Simon Hardern, on behalf of the Commander and personnel of JFC Brunssum, laid a wreath at the monument of Peace Operations.  JFC Brunssum was also represented in the parade by an international platoon that marched through the center of Roermond.
