Lithuanian Armed Forces Day

Brunssum, Netherlands - On Thursday, the 24th of November 2016, the Lithuanian Senior National Representative Allied Headquarters Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), Brigadier General Almantas LEIKA, welcomed guests to the Commemoration of the 98th Anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Lithuania reception event.

Addressing the JFCBS Commander, General Salvatore FARINA, Deputy Chief of Staff (Support), Major General Walter OHM, and other distinguished guests, Brigadier LEIKA provided a précis of Lithuania’s Armed Forces history; from inception through major events affecting them and the challenges faced today.

General LEIKA concluded by emphasizing NATO’s contribution to the development of the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ capabilities and regional security.

 The guests enjoyed sharing experiences of visits to Lithuania and engaging with its people.
