Sittard Remembrance Ceremony

Brunssum, The Netherlands – Sunday 14 November, General Jӧrg Vollmer (Commander JFC Brunssum) and Lieutenant General Stuart Skeates (Deputy Commander JFC Brunssum) attended the annual remembrance ceremony in Sittard.

An insightful service at St Peters' Church led by the Dean of Sittard, Rob Merkx, was followed by an open-air ceremony at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, Ophoven, where 239 service members are laid to rest.

Amongst others, wreaths were laid at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, Ophoven, by the following:

  • The Deputy King's Commissioner for Limburg – Dhr Stephan Satijn
  • The Deputy Mayor of Sittard-Geleen – Dhr Andries Houtakkers
  • Sittard War Graves Committee Chair - Mrs Tedje Versteegh
  • JFC Brunssum – General Jӧrg Vollmer & Lieutenant General Stuart Skeates
  • JFC Brunssum Netherlands Senior National Representative – Colonel Peter Kemna
  • JFC Brunssum UK Senior National Representative – Colonel Edward Corrigan
  • JFC Brunssum Canadian National Representative – Lieutenant Colonel John Timmermans
