The Sunday tour season started on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the NATO base in Brunssum. More than 25 people took part in the first Sunday tour of the year, an opportunity for registered public attending the tour to access the base. This year there will be six more Sunday tours.

During the visit, the public receives a presentation and a tour of the base led by a military guide. Topics covered include the history of the mines, the (socio) economic development of the mining area, the military liberation of Brunssum and NATO and the tasks and responsibilities of Headquarters Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS). The historical presentation also covers the little known story of the influence that the Vietnam War had on Brunssum and the surrounding area.

There are still Sunday tours in Dutch on the following Sundays: May 26, June 30, August 25, September 29 and October 27. In addition, a tour in English on Sunday, June 2. Tours start at 9:30 am and last three hours.

There will be another call for registrations.
