NATO Force Integration Units (NFIUs) are part of the NATO Force Structure (NFS) under the primary responsibility of Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR); they have no deployable remit. NFIU Hungary is one of six NFIUs under operational Command and Control (C2) of Joint Logistics Support Command Brunssum (JLSGBS).
Mission: assist and facilitate the rapid deployment and sustainment of the NATO and other allied forces.
Main task:
- To provide a crucial link to the respective HNs for SA and development and maintenance of the RSN during peacetime and in the transition to crisis
- To maintain lines of engagement with their HN civil/military agencies used to provide rapid and direct responses to help unlock complex issues
- To contribute to their HN to the planning, coordination, training and evaluation/assessment for
- Development of Reinforcement and Sustainment Network (RSN), Joint Logistics Support Networks (JLSNs) and Joint Logistics Support Areas (JLSAs)
- Development of the enablement SA
- Reinforcement by Forces (RbyFo) – support the transition from/to the strategic movement leg to the Reception, Staging and Onward Movement (RSOM)/Rearward Movement Staging and Dispatch (RMSD) parts and sustainment of Allied combat power
- Contribution to wider Situational Awareness (SA) and understanding
- Support and involvement in all phases of the planning process as directed by Higher Headquarters (HHQ), including fostering coherence with national defence plans
