In Bagram, Afghanistan, the Sept. 11th several Romanian Special Operation Forces soldiers were recognized for their service by the Special Operations Joint Task Force – Afghanistan during an award ceremony presided by Brig. Gen. Antonio Fletcher, Deputy Commanding General, Special Operations Joint Task Force - Afghanistan.
Romanian Special Operation Forces soldiers received the NATO medal and the U.S. Army Achievement Medal. U.S. and Romanian Special Operations commands exchanged tokens of appreciation of friendship signifying the lasting cooperation between the two countries.
Romania has contributed to the Afghanistan mission since 2002, when it joined the US-led coalition aimed at restoring freedom and a terrorism-free Afghanistan.
