Commander JFC Brunssum Visited Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast

General Salvatore Farina, Commander Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, visited Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) in Szczecin, Poland today as part of exercise Brilliant Capability 2016 (BRCY16) which took place from 30 May to 3 June.  General Farina congratulated MNC NE personnel for the hard work, dedication and for meeting the main exercise objective of demonstrating that MNC NE has the ability to command and control NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).

"We have witnessed a brilliant performance by a brilliant corps headquarters. I commend the efforts of all the member states and we can see all around us concrete achievements,” said General Farina. "This exercise is the last of a series of four exercises and last week we demonstrated how the VJTF be deployed … it only took four days to deploy troops from Spain, Albania and the UK to join with troops here in Poland. We have demonstrated that NATO is quick and capable to adapt to new challenges in a short time and that the Alliance is based upon the pillars of willingness, solidarity and capability.”

The BRCY16 exercise also demonstrated the achievements made since the Wales Summit in 2014, when MNC-NE was tasked to increase its level of readiness and play a leading for defence of the Eastern flank of the Alliance, in particular Poland and the three Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
