The Commander Joint Force Command Brunssum, General Hans-Lothar Domröse, recently completed a farewell tour of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, where he took part in official civil and military ceremonies.
The 5-day visit included office calls with the Polish Chief of Defence, the Lithuanian Chief of Defence, the Latvian State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, the Estonian Chief of Defence and the Estonian Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence. Among the topics discussed were the current security situation and the status of the NATO Force Integration Units.
General Domröse attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Warsaw and the Lithuanian National Day celebrations in Vilnius, where a speech by the Lithuanian president, Ms. Dalia Grybauskaite, was given. His trip also included a visit to the NATO Stratcom Centre of Excellence, in Riga.
General Domröse was accompanied by the JFCBSs Chief of Staff, General Janusz Adamczak, the Assistant Chief of Staff Plans, Brigadier General Indrek Sirel, and the Lithuanian and Latvian Senior National Representatives, Colonels Vilmas Satas and Ilmars Lejins, respectively.
During the trip General Domröse was presented with the following honours in recognition of his outstanding service:
- The Estonian Defence Forces’ Distinguished Service Decoration;
- The Latvian Medal of Honourable Merit;
- The Lithuanian Cross of the Order of Merit.
