BRUNSSUM, The Netherlands - General Salvatore Farina, Commander Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, welcomed General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, for his first visit to NATO’s Operational Headquarters in The Netherlands.
During the visit, General Farina assured General Scaparrotti, "JFC Brunssum is in good health, fully committed and well connected, ready to conduct assigned operations and to fulfil any follow-on operational requirements.”
SACEUR spent time with JFC Brunssum’s staff to provide his command guidance and philosophy, focused on strengthening the cohesion of the Alliance through improved readiness and adaptability.
General Farina also provided a detailed brief to the new SACEUR on the recently completed exercise Brilliant Jump, successfully conducted in Poland with the deployment of elements of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF)-land component, as an important contribution to the Readiness Action Plan stemming from the 2014 Wales Summit.
JFC Brunssum is the designated Stand-By Headquarters throughout 2016 for the NATO Response Force. Additionally, the command serves as the out-of-theatre Headquarters for NATO’s Resolute Support Mission.
General Scaparrotti assumed his position as SACEUR on May 4th, 2016 and is visiting the commands within Allied Command Operations (ACO) to get detailed, first-hand information from his commanders.
