Three JFC Brunssum Personnel are Awarded the NATO Meritorious Service Medal.

During the NATO Meritorious Service Medal Ceremony, Major General Hans van Griensven, Lieutenant Colonel Miguel Casado and Mr. Timothy Haynie were awarded with the NATO Meritorious Service Medal.

The NATO Meritorious Service Medal is the highest award presented on behalf of the Alliance. It is the personal award of the NATO Secretary General who signs each citation.
General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), awarded the medals to the recipients.

The NATO Meritorious Service Medal was first awarded in 2003 to commend NATO staff whose personal initiative and dedication went beyond their duty to make a difference both to their colleagues as well as to NATO as an organization. Although there is no difference in the medal, ribbon or clasp presented to individuals, an administrative distinction is made between ‘Operation/Mission’ nominations and ‘Non-Operational’ nominations.

The NATO Meritorious Service Medal is awarded twice per year.
