Commander JFC Brunssum Meets With Danish Chief of Defence
Copenhagen, Denmark - 11 September; Commander JFC Brunssum, General Salvatore Farina, visited the Danish Chief of Defence (CHOD), General Bjørn Bisserup, in Copenhagen. The one-day visit included meetings with the CHOD, the Chief of Joint Operations and the Chief of Plans, Policy and Coordination Staff of the Danish Armed Forces in order to discuss about Denmark’s wide military contributions and its role in the international security environment.
Discussions specifically touched upon Denmark’s commitment in the Baltic States, NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence and the Dane’s key role as the framework nation for Headquarters Multinational Corps North-East in Sczeczin, Poland. General Farina emphasized the importance of Denmark’s engagement and expressed his thanks to General Bisserup for the enduring support to NATO’s efforts in the area, support that has been unwavering for many years.
Besides the focus on Eastern Europe, General Farina was provided a comprehensive overview about the Danish Armed Forces, Denmark’s view on the global security situation and broader commitment to international operations. Denmark’s contribution to NATO’s Resolute Support Mission (RSM) and the ongoing support to exercises in JFC Brunssum’s area of responsibility were also amongst issues touched upon. General Farina outlined his personal impressions of the RSM following a recent trip to the Resolute Support Headquarters in Afghanistan, and thanked the Danish CHOD for his nation’s commitment to that mission.
Both generals agreed the visit had been of mutual benefit and assessed frank discussion was very important for the synchronization of common efforts in support of a ‘One NATO’ approach.
