Commander JFC Brunssum visits NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy and Exercise Brilliant Ledger

Bellinzago Novarese, Italy - Commander JFC Brunssum, General ‎Salvatore Farina, met with NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy staff ‎ on 10-11 October 2017 during the NATO Exercise BRILLIANT LEDGER 2017 (BRLR17). The exercise provided the certification venue for NRDC- ITA to act as Land Component Command (LCC) in the potential event of deploying the NATO Response Force (NRF) in 2018.

On the first day of the visit, General Farina was briefed on the structure and capabilities of the Headquarters in its LCC role. The meeting with the Commander NRDC-ITA, Lieutenant General Roberto Perretti, provided also the opportunity for General Farina - as the responsible Commander for the preparation and readiness of the entire NRF18 force package - to provide further guidance for the upcoming stand-by period in 2018. Furthermore, General Farina elaborated on the current NATO work strands at the operational and strategic level and how this relates to the NRF, as well as the role of NRDC- ITA. On the second day of the visit, General Farina attended the Distinguished Visitors' Day of BRLR17 together with other commanders and distinguished guests. The visit to the Command Post with a walk around through the different sections  provided valuable insights on how the HQ is going to manage its role as LCC. General Farina was very pleased about the demonstrated capabilities of NRDC- ITA and expressed his thanks to LTG Perretti for his headquarters' dedication and remarkable contribution to the NRF18 task, but also to NATO's efforts in general.

The trip to NRDC- ITA concluded General Farina's very important and helpful visits to all NRF18 Component Commands. He was assured by these important insights that the NRF18 force package is already very well prepared for next year's responsibilities by proving necessary capabilities, readiness and cohesion to fulfill this very important task for the Alliance.
