JFC Brunssum Commander Visits Uedem and Kalkar

Kalkar, Germany – Commander Joint Force Command Brunssum, General Riccardo Marchiò, paid a visit to the German Air Operations Command and the German Joint Force Air Command - the assigned NATO Response Force (NRF) 2018 Air Component Command, in Uedem and Kalkar, Germany.

Lieutenant General Klaus Habersetzer welcomed General Marchiò personally and guided him through a day-long programme at the heart of Germany’s operational Air Force.  As the Combined Air Operation Centre Commander, General Habersetzer is a key stakeholder in Brunssum’s area of responsibility in Northern Europe.  He provided valuable insights to the current state of the Baltic Air Policing as well as on improvements made to date with regard to improved Air-Ground integration training and efforts to further develop joint enablement of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Groups at its Eastern Flank.

The visit ended with an introduction to the tasks of the Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC) that provided an insight to its tasks as NATO’s centre of excellence in the air domain.  The JAPCC is NATO’s catalyst for the improvement and transformation of Joint Air and Space Power.
