Brunssum, the Netherlands – Today, recently arrived Chief of Staff Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, Lieutenant General Hubert de Reviers de Mauny, gathered headquarters personnel to make an initial staff address. Having now been at Brunssum for circa ten weeks he and his wife are, understandably, still unpacking boxes in their new house but the General used the occasion to introduce himself, outline what he expects from his people and what they can expect from him.
A proud Legionnaire with a number of operational tours behind him General de Reviers has enjoyed a long and successful career that has included a number of senior staff appointments (amongst others, a tour in the Office of Foreign Affairs, a tour in the President's Office and a period as Chief of Staff to the French Chief of Defence) that led, more recently, to Director of the French Ecole de Guerre.
Turning to his role at JFC Brunssum the General underlined the staff could expect clear direction and guidance from him 'as there is a difference between focused outputs and simply being busy.' In return, he would like the staff to look for ways to increase coherence wherever possible so that we can work as one team that is focused on the Commanders' priorities. Expanding his thoughts he went on to underline that every staff member should seek to make the most of the opportunity to work in this multi-national environment, use it to develop knowledge of other cultures, and broaden professional skillsets.
To conclude, Lieutenant General de Reviers underlined that he is delighted to be at JFC Brunssum and looks forward to the challenges that lay ahead.
