Brunssum, the Netherlands – 13 to 14 January, General Erhard Bühler, Commander JFC Brunssum (JFCBS), visited Turkey for a series of official engagements.

Meeting with the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Selcuk Bayraktaroğlu and other high ranking military personnel, General Bühler discussed Turkey’s contribution to NATO’s Resolute Support Mission (RSM) in Afghanistan, and articulated JFCBS’s role and responsibilities. Turkey is not only a valuable troop contributor to RSM but the Framework Nation managing the military side of the Hamid Karzai International Airport (in Kabul) and, thus, is a key stakeholder.

Note: As the out-of-theatre operational command for RSM, JFCBS supports those deployed as much as possible so as to enable them to concentrate on their daily tasks. For example, amongst other things, JFCBS runs the RSM budget, oversees pre-deployment key leader training and contributes to mission-related planning.
