Commissioner for the German Armed Forces visits JFCBS

Brunssum, the Netherlands – The Commissioner for the German Armed Forces of the German Bundestag, Dr. Hans-Peter Bartels, visited JFC Brunssum today. The Commissioner is a unique political entity in Germany. His role comprises monitoring German parliamentary control of the German Armed Forces as well as having an open ear for any issues German soldiers might have.

After an office call with the Commander, General Erhard Bühler, Dr. Bartels used the opportunity to gain a first-hand impression of NATO missions overseen by JFC Brunssum. Discussions and briefings with individual international representatives enabled fruitful exchange of knowledge.

Amongst other issues, Dr. Bartels was provided an insight into JFC Brunssum’s working structure, main operating tasks and areas of responsibility (as well as challenges particular to the operational level of military command). All participants concluded the visit was highly successful.

Dr. Bartels’ itinerary concluded with a call on the German Delegation based on the JFC Brunssum site where intensive round-table talks took place.
