The group comprised representatives of Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States received – amongst other issues – a comprehensive briefing from the Deputy Commander outlining JFCBS’ roles and responsibilities in connection to the Alliance’s deterrence posture with a focus on readiness, capabilities, commitment i.e. the ways in which an operational-level NATO HQs contributes to Collective Defence.
The visit included a discussion with the senior leadership of the HQs, a tour through the Headquarters including the Joint Operation Centre then transferred to the AFNORTH International School where the Director, Mrs Kathy Wood, gave an insight to the educational concept, challenges, and vision of this unique school.
