Afghan Ambassadors Visit

Brunssum, the Netherlands - JFC Brunssum welcomed the Afghan Ambassador to the EU and NATO, His Honorable Nazifullah Salarzai, on Friday 13th of March 2020. The Ambassador and his staff met with leadership from the headquarters and discussed a number of topics, including the mission and the support of JFC Brunssum as the out-of-theatre operational headquarters for NATO’s Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.

Then, the Ambassador addressed the staff of JFC Brunssum. He gave his personal thanks for the support for his country from NATO and the JFC Brunssum staff and welcomed continued great coordination. He said that his country has come a long way in the 18 years that NATO has been supporting it. He compared the country before 2001, where no girls attended schools, to now, where 35% of the student population is female. He mentioned that the Taliban should not drive the agenda for the future since only a limited number of the population actually supports them. He stated that after Resolute Support, Afghanistan will still need support and the Ambassador was hopeful that NATO would still be involved.
