NATO Joint Force Command Brunssum’s Commander, Gen. Jörg Vollmer, today spoke with U.S. European Command’s (USEUCOM) Deputy Commander, Lt. Gen. Stephen M. Twitty, during a telephone call.
Both generals underlined the close relationship between USEUCOM and NATO. The two leaders also reiterated their determination to further synchronize, coordinate and develop exercise concepts for the purpose of deterrence and defence in northern Europe.
Gen. Vollmer invited EUCOM for a next round of staff talks in the upcoming months.
USEUCOM is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, and was established in 1952. Today its area of responsibility covers 51 countries ranging from Portugal’s Azores Islands to Iceland and Israel. EUCOM is the focal point for the United States military’s presence in Europe.
JFC Brunssum is one of NATO’s three operational level joint military headquarters, with an area of responsibility covering the north Atlantic and northern Europe. It also serves as the out-of-theatre headquarters for NATO’s RESOLUTE SUPPORT mission in Afghanistan.
