Commander Royal Netherlands Army Visits JFC Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands – On Thursday 22 October, the Commander Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), General Jörg Vollmer, welcomed the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Army, Lieutenant General Martin Wijnen.

This relationship is especially strong here in Brunssum, with the Netherlands being our Host Nation

“I am grateful to welcome you to JFC Brunssum HQs and to further enhance the strong relationship NATO has with the Netherlands”, General Vollmer said. He continued: “This relationship is especially strong here in Brunssum, with the Netherlands being our Host Nation.”

During the visit, amongst a raft of issues, discussion focussed on deterrence and defence in JFC Brunssum’s area of responsibility. The Generals also touched upon the enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battlegroups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, and the importance of troop contributing nations to sustain their commitment to this important activity. Currently more than 230 soldiers from The Netherlands are deployed to the eFP Battle Group in Lithuania.

In executing the visit of Lieutenant General Wijnen to JFCBS host nation COVID-19 regulations were rigidly enforced.
