I am pleased to welcome you to JFC Brunssum HQs and to further enhance the strong relationship NATO has with the Netherlands
General Vollmer said.
The 1st German-Netherlands Corps is one of the Rapid Deployable Corps Headquarters in NATO's Force Structure. In this capacity, the Corps is capable of leading multinational missions. The Corps also provides forces to the NATO Response Force (NRF) on a rotational basis.
During the visit, amongst a raft of issues, discussion focussed on defence and deterrence of the Euro-Atlantic Area. The Generals also touched upon their contributions to NATO's three core tasks: Crisis Management, Cooperative Security and Collective Defence. Current challenges, such as building military capacity in times of crisis, resilience and survivability were also on the agenda.
Importantly, as discussion turned to the coordination of military activities in JFC Brunssum's Area of Responsibility (AOR), General Vollmer emphasised:
JFC Brunssum, as the NATO nexus in our AOR, will coordinate all military activities in the area
In executing the visit of Lieutenant General Marlow to JFC Brunssum, COVID-19 regulations were rigidly enforced.
