BRUNSSUM, The Netherlands - Wednesday 4th March, Lieutenant General Thorsten Poschwatta, designated Chief of Staff of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission (RSM) in Afghanistan, visited Headquarters JFC Brunssum (JFCBS).

The event was an opportunity to meet with JFCBS’ chain of command and specialists on Afghanistan to conduct discussions and briefings on various topics of interest with respect to Resolute Support Mission. The aim was to foster common understanding and increase situational awareness on the different echelons included in supporting NATO’s mission in Afghanistan. Overall, the visit provided a comprehensive understanding of the current situation on the ground and expectations for the future.

As the out-of-theatre operational command for RSM JFC Brunssum fulfils its task to prepare, empower and assist those deployed to the mission so as to enable them to concentrate on their daily tasks and responsibilities. For example JFC Brunssum runs the RSM budget, oversees pre-deployment key leader training and contributes to mission-related planning.
