JFC BRUNSSUM AND JFC NORFOLK COMMANDERS CONDUCT VIRTUAL MEETING ACROSS THE ATLANTIC

Brunssum, the Netherlands, on Wednesday 27th May, General Jörg Vollmer, Commander Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), conducted a virtual meeting with his counterpart Vice Admiral Andrew Lewis, Commander Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFCNF).

The Commanders engaged in a serious discussion regarding the challenges they have faced in relation to COVID19 restrictions, but were confident in the ability of their staffs to adapt and adjust in order to complete mission essential tasks for NATO deterrence and defence requirements. Other topics discussed included a review of COM JFCNF’s recent paper covering his command vision as he works towards fully operationalising his newly formed headquarters. Both General Vollmer and Vice Admiral Lewis recognise the importance of close co-ordination between the two JFCs, specifically between staffs, as they work to improve communication and co-ordination of activities between the commands.

Overall, the engagement was extremely positive and helped to solidify the two JFC Commanders’ relationship to continue efforts to improve NATO’s co-ordinated deterrence and defence within their Areas of Operations and the wider NATO theatre. When restrictions allow the Commanders look forward to visiting each other in person.
