May, General Jörg Vollmer, Commander Joint Force
Command Brunssum (JFCBS), conducted a virtual meeting with his counterpart Vice
Admiral Andrew Lewis, Commander Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFCNF).
The Commanders engaged
in a serious discussion regarding the challenges they have faced in relation to
COVID19 restrictions, but were confident in the ability of their staffs to
adapt and adjust in order to complete mission essential tasks for NATO
deterrence and defence requirements. Other topics discussed included a review
of COM JFCNF’s recent paper covering his command vision as he works towards
fully operationalising his newly formed headquarters. Both General Vollmer and
Vice Admiral Lewis recognise the importance of close co-ordination between the
two JFCs, specifically between staffs, as they work to improve communication
and co-ordination of activities between the commands. -5ugA91.jpg)
Overall, the engagement
was extremely positive and helped to solidify the two JFC Commanders’
relationship to continue efforts to improve NATO’s co-ordinated deterrence and
defence within their Areas of Operations and the wider NATO theatre. When
restrictions allow the Commanders look forward to visiting each other in
person.
