Brunssum, the Netherlands – Yesterday, in a COVID-19 compliant ceremony, the long and committed service to the Alliance of NATO International Civilian personnel was officially recognised. The event had initially been planned for May this year but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. The ceremony was moderated by Mr Barry Mellor whilst long service certificates were presented by Major General Kees Matthijssen (JFCBS Deputy Chief of Staff (Plans)). In his opening remarks General Mattijssen touched upon the added value civilians bring to a military headquarters in terms of skillsets not normally found in the military and the continuity their sustained presence delivers.
