Third Annual Security Force Assistance Seminar Conducted Virtually

Brunssum, the Netherlands – On Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th October, Joint Force Command Brunssum  (JFCBS) hosted the third annual Security Force Assistance (SFA) Seminar.  During the current climate a face-to-face meeting was not possible.  As a consequence, for the first time, the event was held via video-teleconference.  Personnel from 11 military and civilian organisations, from all across Europe, dialled into the seminar.

SFA is a concept that was first discussed during the 2010 Lisbon Summit and, since 2014, has been further developed and implemented.  This year’s seminar focussed on discussions surrounding security reform, post conflict security operations and stabilisation policy.  NATO and its partner agencies need to be ready to support nations with SFA in order to maintain peace and stability.

The conference served as an excellent platform for all involved to develop and continuously improve understanding of the intricacies of SFA in order to enhance operational effectiveness.
