The V Corps, located in Fort Knox, has a forward headquarters in Poznan, Poland. The corps was deactivated in 2013, but in February 2020, the United States Department of the Army announced the reactivation of the corps headquarters, with around 600 soldiers, of which approximately 200 will provide direct support at an operational command post in Europe. This forward headquarters will conduct operational planning, mission command and oversight of the rotational forces in Europe, and work alongside allies and partners to build readiness and enhance interoperability.
