JFC Brunssum Commander Visits the United States

Brunssum, The Netherlands – General Vollmer, Commander Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), visited the United States 18 to 21 Aug.

The Commander met with Vice Admiral Andrew Lewis, Commander Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFCNF), to discuss continued close co-ordination/co-operation between the two sibling commands. This meeting, in itself, is a symbol of a shared determination to strengthen NATO's readiness and deterrence.

General Vollmer highlighted the importance of teamwork stating we perform:

as best as we can through continued staff co-ordination and the sharing of experience; we are strongest when we work together

General Vollmer attended JFC Norfolks' Change of Command Ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, USS Harry S. Truman, where Vice Admiral Lewis handed over the baton to Vice Admiral Daniel Dwyer. Admiral Lewis was JFCNF's first commander.

Additionally, General Vollmer's itinerary saw him meet with the Vice Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, General John E. Hyten. Amongst other issues the Generals discussed Deterrence Management and upcoming exercises.
