Romanian Chief of Defence Staff Visits Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands - On Thursday 4th March, the Romanian Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu, paid a visit to Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS). He was welcomed by JFCBS Commander, General Jörg Vollmer. The visit was originally scheduled for November 2020 but had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

NATO highly appreciates Romania’s long lasting commitment and contribution to our mission in Afghanistan

Besides meetings with Romanian personnel, Lieutenant General Petrescu participated in discussions on various topics, including NATO’s ongoing Resolute Support Mission (RSM) in Afghanistan. With JFCBS serving as the missions out-of-theatre operational headquarters, Romania currently contributes more than 600 troops to RSM.

General Vollmer highlighted that “the visit was of great value to maintain the close relationship between the Romanian Armed Forces and JFCBS. NATO highly appreciates Romania’s long lasting commitment and contribution to our mission in Afghanistan,” he emphasized.
