In Szczecin, he visited NATO's Multinational Corps Northeast (MNCNE). The Headquarters bade farewell to his Commander, Lieutenant General Slawomir Wojciechowski.

I am grateful for General Wojciechowski outstanding and charismatic leadership and for his commitment over a period of more than three years

He stated that Lieutenant General Wojciechowski built the foundation for his successor, Lieutenant General Jürgen Joachim General von Sandrart: "We have known each other for years and from several different assignments. I wish him all the best for his upcoming and challenging task."

Prior to the change of command ceremony General Vollmer used the opportunity to meet the outgoing and incoming commanders for bilateral talks. Amongst other issues, topics touched upon included readiness, interoperability and coherence as well as deterrence and defence.

As a High Readiness Force Land Headquarters, Multinational
Corps Northeast is widening its scope of responsibility in deterrence and
defence on NATO's North-eastern flank. "This Headquarters is unique because of its regional responsibility in the Baltic Sea region and Poland", General Vollmer underlined.

For his next position, Lieutenant General Wojciechowski will move abroad. In Brussels he will become the new Polish Military Representative in the Military Committee. Lieutenant General von Sandrart previously led the German
1st Tank Division.
