Brunssum, the Netherlands – On 15th November, National Military Representatives (NMRs) to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) visited Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS). Commander JFCBS General Luigi Guglielmo Miglietta personally welcomed the high-ranking representatives of NATO Allies.
We need to stand together to unify a wide NATO response
The visit of the NMRs provided an opportunity for open and high-level discussion of a variety of topics affecting JFC Brunssum’s Area of Responsibility. Attendees also had the opportunity to discuss military planning issues, such as Command & Control and intelligence sharing, vital for the future of the Alliance given the illegal and unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine.
During his opening remarks, General Miglietta expressed appreciation for Allies’ commitment and professionalism, saying: “I have no doubt, we will meet the intent of defending every inch on NATO territory should that prove necessary.”
General Miglietta also stressed the need for NATO to continually evolve in order to counter new security threats. In addressing this, he highlighted the role of the Deterrence and Defence of the Euro-Atlantic Area (DDA) Concept, as it enhances NATO’s ability to protect Alliance populations.
In his final remarks, the General emphasised the need to work collaboratively, saying, "We need to stand together to unify a wide NATO response."
