Located in Southern Italy, JFC Naples is one of the three operational military Headquarters in NATO, together with JFCs Norfolk (United States) and Brunssum (The Netherlands). The role of all three headquarters is to plan, conduct and sustain NATO operations of different sizes and scopes. Each headquarters is able to plan and lead a major joint operation either from their static location or from a deployed headquarters when operating directly in a theatre of operation.

The deputy leaders of NATO’s two operational commands in Europe addressed issues of mutual concern and underlined NATO’s readiness and determination to deter, and if necessary, defend against threats to Alliance territory.
