JFC Brunssum Commander Addresses Staff

Brunssum, The Netherlands – General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, Commander, Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), held a brief address to his staff at JFCBS Headquarters, 13 Sept 2022.

The role of JFC Brunssum has never been more important

The General shared his views on the current situation and outlined his priorities.

“I want you to know that I consider it a privilege to be your new Commander,” said General Miglietta. “This feeling is with me since the very first day.”

With the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the European landscape is changing, he said. “Russian attacks and brutal actions in Ukraine, since February, have deeply changed the European security environment, and our place in it.”

The previous world order is being challenged with an intensity that is unmatched in recent history, he said. “The role of JFC Brunssum has never been more important.”

Beyond discussion of the current strategic situation in Europe, General Miglietta also had some thoughts about the working culture at JFCBS.

“I am surrounded by impressive personnel, in every area,” stated the General. “We must build on this.”

With regard to the added value of a multinational environment, the General said multi-nationality can only work if all team members are bringing their best practices to the table, learning from others, and keeping an open mind. “Everyone, at every level, has something to contribute,” said General Miglietta.

To close, General Miglietta gave some advice for long-term team success.

“I want the JFC community to shine as a team. I also expect everyone here to use your time at JFCBS to spend time together with family and friends,” General Miglietta added. “We have a heavy schedule of operational, planning and support commitments, extending out to 2024, but I know that JFCBS is up for such challenges.”
