Northern Europe Operational Update Weeks 05/06 2022

ELBLĄG, Poland – The 4th February saw the final day of the first "Exercise Amber Bridge" Battle Staff Training of 2022. The Lithuanian "Iron Wolf" Brigade, and the Polish 15th Mechanized Brigade, as well as the 7th Dukelska Mechanized Brigade from the Czech Republic, trained together with soldiers of the Multinational Division Northeast. The aim was to improve their skills in planning and conducting combat operations. Several Ambassadors and military attachés visited the Exercise on 3rd February, and met with the soldiers taking part. During their visit, they were familiarised with the structure and tasks of a busy headquarters, and took the opportunity to meet with their compatriots serving in the Elbląg command.

Around 1,400 French, British and Estonian soldiers are taking part in the training. British and French soldiers worked alongside one another to develop knowledge and expertise ahead of a 'Force on Force' attack and defend training serial.

The attack and defend training featured French and British soldiers training as the defence, with the Estonian Scouts Battalion and the Estonian Defence League posing as the attacking force.

This scenario provided an opportunity for all elements of eFP Battlegroup Estonia to train together, and to learn and adapt tactics and skills from one another.
