Polish Visit to JFC Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands – Monday 12 September, Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) hosted a visit by Ambassador Tomasz Szatkowski, (Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to NATO) and Lieutenant General Slawomir Wojciechowski PhD, (Polish Military Representative to NATO and EU Military Committees).

Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum continues to work hard to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence posture in order to protect its people and territory

The main purpose of the visit was to discuss synchronisation of operational plans in order to provide Ambassador Szatkowski and Lieutenant General Wojciechowski with a broader understanding of current Alliance military vigilance activities in Northern Europe.

General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, Commander Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), took the opportunity to thank the Polish Armed Forces for their contribution to the headquarters and their wider contribution to ongoing security-related issues impacting NATO at the current time.

“The Allies determination to act as one is demonstrated by the joint and multinational character of NATO vigilance activities that are underway. Confronted by growing security challenges, Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum continues to work hard to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence posture in order to protect its people and territory,” underlined General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta.

Note:

Each NATO member country has a delegation at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and contributes to the consultation process, which allows NATO to take collective decisions or actions. A delegation represents its country and has a status similar to that of an embassy. It is led by an "ambassador" (also called ‘permanent representative’), who acts on instructions from his or her capital and reports back to national authorities.

MILREPs from each NATO member nation populate the Military Committee in NATO HQs. This is the most senior military committee within the Alliance and its primary task is to provide military advice to the North Atlantic Council.
