The programme allowed Lieutenant General Stickland to participate in a round table discussion with General Miglietta and other senior JFCBS staff members. A broad range of topics were discussed including Command and Control relationships between the two Headquarters and opportunities to align activities, especially those undertaken by the UK’s Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF)2.

General Miglietta stressed the importance of a continuous dialogue between JFCBS and its partners in its Joint Operational Area, “Together, we will be able to withstand future aggression;” he summarized.

1. CJO is the head of the UK’s Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ), which is the organisation that plans and controls all UK overseas military operations. Whilst not part of the NATO Command Structure, it has responsibility for UK personnel who may be deployed on NATO missions, such as the UK troops deployed to Estonia, Poland and Mediterranean Sea as part of NATO’s deterrence and defence posture presence in the eastern part of Alliance territory.

2. The JEF is a UK-led Expeditionary Force that consists of personnel from ten countries: eight NATO members plus Finland and Sweden. It constitutes a pool of high-readiness, adaptable forces, designed to enhance the UK's ability to respond rapidly, anywhere in the world, or on behalf of international organisations such as the UN or NATO.
