British Higher Command and Staff Course Visits Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands - On Wednesday 1st March, Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (HQ JFCBS) hosted a visit of around forty senior officers currently attending the British Higher Command and Staff Course (HCSC).

The HCSC is a 16-week postgraduate staff course for senior Defence and Security leaders, drawn mostly from the British Armed Forces. The course prepares senior leaders (Colonel/Brigadier and equivalent) for the highest levels of operational command and control. Students hone their intellectual edge to meet the security challenges of a modern world of constant competition and sub-threshold conflict, while remaining at all times ready to command traditional warfighting operations.

The HCSC course attendees received a full day of briefings, which began with a welcome from the JFCBS Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Krzysztof Król and a briefing about HQ JFCBS and its role within NATO delivered by JFCBS Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Major General John Boyd.

The senior officers of the HCSC course and their staff from the United Kingdom’s Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC) were hosted for lunch by a selection of senior British officers from HQ JFCBS, before continuing with an afternoon of briefings and a discussion session.
