Dutch Army Legal Advisors visit HQ JFC Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands – On Thursday, 28th September, over 40 military legal advisors of the Royal Netherlands Army visited the Headquarters Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (HQ JFCBS).

The guests left early in the morning from Amersfoort (NLD) by coach. They started the visit with a command brief’, followed by lunch, a briefing about legal affairs, visit to the HQ’s Joint All Domain Operations Centre and concluded with a guided tour around the base, the Hendrik van Nassau Ouwerkerk Camp. After the visit at the end of the afternoon they left for the Abbey Rolduc in Kerkrade.

The Royal Netherlands Army Legal Advisers’ Corps consists of military legal advisers stationed at Army bases in The Netherlands and abroad. They advise commanders on a variety of legal topics from personnel issues to laws of armed conflict. The corps provides the Chief Legal Adviser in the rank of Colonel advising the Commander JFCBS and managing the legal office.

HQ JFCBS is one of NATO’s most important military headquarters, responsible for directing operations in time of crisis. Uniquely among the NATO Command Structure, JFCBS is the only Operational-Level headquarters commanded by a European General.
