Brunssum, The Netherlands – On Wednesday 3rd May, Headquarters Joint Force Command Brunssum (HQ JFCBS) hosted the visit of Mrs Kajsa Ollongren, the Dutch Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Together, Dutch and Allied personnel here at the headquarters play a key role in strengthening the Deterrence and Defence of NATO’s north-eastern flank
After a welcome to the headquarters, Mrs Ollongren attended an office call with Commander JFC Brunssum, General Gugliemo Luigi Miglietta, followed by a briefing with senior staff from HQ JFCBS. After the official part of her visit, she met members of the Dutch delegation working on the Brunssum military base.
Minister Ollongren stated that for more than fifty years, the Netherlands has been proud to host one of NATO’s most senior operational headquarters, here in Brunssum. “Together, Dutch and Allied personnel here at the headquarters play a key role in strengthening the Deterrence and Defence of NATO’s north-eastern flank. NATO is united more than ever.”
“It is a great honour to host Mrs Kajsa Ollongren here in Brunssum,” said General Miglietta. “I am also ever grateful for the support we continue to receive from our Host Nation and the Province of Limburg. Dutch military and civilian staff at this HQ and elsewhere play a leading role in the defence of NATO territory, and in deterring aggression against the 31 members of our alliance”.
HQ JFCBS is one of NATO’s most important military headquarters, responsible for directing operations in time of crisis. JFCBS is the only Operational-level headquarters in the NATO structure under the command of a European General.
