Brunssum, The Netherlands – Service members from Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC Brunssum) and their families participated in a sports and charity event organized by the French delegation in order to raise money to support injured soldiers, 6th June, 2023.
Participants were encouraged to do as many miles as possible through different activities, including running, walking, cycling, or swimming, and to add the distance they completed to a general counter. A charity box was also at the disposal of all participants willing to help the French association for injured soldiers.
More than 160 participants from all nations represented at JFC Brunssum worked together and reached 3018 total kilometers before the end of the day.
This activity aimed to show JFC Brunssum’s support and solidarity with those who have been injured, either physically or through unseen wounds, in service to their nation.
The event took place less than two weeks after a visit to JFC Brunssum by Edwin de Wolf, Dutch Veteran and Team Manager of the Dutch Invictus Team, representing an additional step towards the upcoming Invictus Games that will take place from 9th to 16th September in Düsseldorf, Germany.
