JFCBS families met Prince Harry at the Invictus Games NATO Day in Düsseldorf

Brunssum, The Netherlands – On Thursday, 14 September, Headquarters Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (HQ JFCBS) travelled to Düsseldorf in Germany to celebrate the Invictus Games NATO Day.

I want to stress that NATO does not let those men & women down who sacrificed their health in service of their nations and NATO in the name of peace & security.

Commander JFC Brunssum, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, took along the whole staff and their families of his HQ and the AFNORTH International School, to pay respects to physically and mentally wounded fellow service members, and spend a day with them at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf.

The JFCBS staff and their families had the opportunity to visit various competitions, cheer for the competitors and teams, and enjoy the enthralling international atmosphere with athletes and visitors from all over the world. JFC Brunssum is particularly connected to wounded veterans from the Afghanistan missions, ISAF and RS, that were conducted by this HQ.

“I want to stress that NATO does not let those men & women down who sacrificed their health in service of their nations and NATO in the name of peace & security”, said General Miglietta. “With this NATO Day we wanted to demonstrate that all JFCBS members and their families whole heartedly support the Invictus Games and the idea behind it!”

For many, the highlight of the day was the photo opportunity with Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who joined the JFC Brunssum group picture and met some of the staff in person.

The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event first held in 2014, for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans. The Games were founded by Prince Harry, who still serves as their patron.
