NATO Exercise Steadfast Jupiter kicks off in Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands – One of the largest Command Post Exercises in NATO, STEADFAST JUPITER 23, kicked off in Brunssum on 9 October, 2023.
With this exercise, we will train our proficiency to respond to any aggressor threatening the Alliance, be it on land, at sea, in the air, in space or in cyberspace

Under the overall guidance of NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), STEADFAST JUPITER 23 (STJU23) involves in total some 7,000 participants from 17 nations and 24 Multi-National HQs from the strategic, operational and tactical levels.

The Commander of JFC Brunssum, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, and his HQ have the overall responsibility to run the training. Additional military and civilian staff from all over the Alliance have come to Brunssum to support this event.

This exercise demonstrates NATO’s and JFC Brunssum’s capability and readiness to defend every inch of the Alliance against adversaries that challenge the sovereignty of NATO nations and our core values.

“With this exercise, we will train our proficiency to respond to any aggressor threatening the Alliance, be it on land, at sea, in the air, in space or in cyberspace,” said General Miglietta. “STEADFAST JUPITER 23 contributes to the NATO concept of Deterrence and Defence endorsed by all Allied nations at the recent Vilnius Summit.”

A Command Post Exercise is a training event for Headquarters and NATO Commands to test and develop their ability to conduct complex military operations. It is computer-based and conducted by NATO units across the Alliance, and does not involve actual troop movements or activities.

The exercise will run until 19 October.
