“Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum is key to ensuring NATO’s deterrence and defence at the operational level,” said Ambassador Smith. “Particularly as the Alliance implements its new generation of regional defence plans and continues to evolve to meet future challenges.”

This was Ambassador Smith’s first visit to JFC Brunssum during her tenure as US Ambassador to NATO. She was accompanied by Rachel Ellehuus, Defence Advisor to the Ambassador and Senior Civilian Representative of the US Secretary of Defence in Europe.

“We are very honoured that Ambassador Smith has taken her valuable time to visit us today,” said General Miglietta. “At this critical time in the world, it is more important than ever that NATO and the United States work together to deter aggression and maintain security across NATO territory.”
