Convergence, and Looking to the Future: Lt. Gen. Bernabe visits JFC Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands – Lieutenant General Sean C. Bernabe, Deputy Commanding General of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, visited Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum Headquarters, 21st October 2024
Close cooperation between NATO forces and U.S. forces has always been a critical element in maintaining peace for NATO nations, but it has become particularly important in today’s security environment
After a warm welcome from Lt. Gen. Luis Lanchares, JFC Brunssum Deputy Commander, Lt. Gen. Bernabe was treated to a historical overview, an office call with JFC Brunssum Commander, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, then a series of briefings focused on future cooperation between U.S. and NATO forces, also known as ‘Convergence.’
“Last month, during Exercise Avenger Triad 24, U.S. Army Europe and Africa and JFC Brunssum made tremendous strides in our journey towards Convergence with NATO,” said Lt. Gen. Bernabe. “Both organizations understand just how crucial the relationship between U.S. and NATO forces is for European security. It’s quite inspiring to be a part of it.”

Among his briefings, accompanied by representatives from across the spectrum of JFC Brunssum senior leadership, were discussions of future plans for Exercise Steadfast Duel 25, the shared “Fight Tonight” mentality for NATO and U.S. forces, and the Multi-Corps Land Component Command’s role in the execution of NATO’s crisis planning.

“Close cooperation between NATO forces and U.S. forces has always been a critical element in maintaining peace for NATO nations, but it has become particularly important in today’s security environment,” said Gen. Miglietta. “Lt. Gen. Bernabe is an outstanding partner for building the future of our combined capabilities, and the timing of his visit could not be better as we look to build on our lessons learned from Avenger Triad and cooperatively plan our way ahead.”
