Danish Senior Officers Course Visits JFC Brunssum

Brunssum, The Netherlands – Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum hosted a visit of 25 senior officers from the Danish Defence College as part of the Senior Officers Course, 11th and 12th April, 2024.

The visit served as part of the official curriculum of the course, which is chaired by Maj Gen Flemming Mathiasen, Commandant of the Royal Danish Defence College.

After receiving a warm welcome from JFC Brunssum Deputy Commander, Lt Gen Lanchares, the class attended a presentation by Danish Senior National Representative Colonel Lars Mouritsen about Danish involvement at JFC Brunssum, and the headquarters’ overall role within NATO.

The students received briefings about a wide variety of topics throughout the days, including the roles, responsibilities and current challenges of an operational-level NATO military headquarters, and in-depth lectures on functional areas contributing to the operational planning process. The visitors also had the opportunity to discuss military planning issues in detail.

The Danish Senior Officers Course is a six-week staff course for senior Defence and Security leaders drawn from the Danish Army, Navy, Air Force, Emergency Management Agency and Police. The course is designated to prepare senior leaders for the highest levels of leadership and operational command and control.
